3.3 Input Detection Modes
The ASD-211i/2D supports two modes of detection: automatic input detection and
forced input selection.
3.3.1 Automatic Input Detection
During this mode of detection, the ASD-211i/2D detects the type of input and
automatically switches to that format by loading the decoder with the format’s
parameters. To enable automatic input detection, follow these steps:
1. From the main menu, press SELECT to enable the STD-INPUT menu.
2. To set automatic detection, use the UP(+) or DOWN(-) push-button to move to
the AUTO LED. Automatic detection is ready for selection when AUTO flashes.
3. Press SELECT to store the mode of detection.
4. To return to the main menu, press SELECT until there is no more flashing LED.
3.3.2 Forced Input Selection
This mode allows you to select one of the input formats. During this mode of
operation, the ASD-211i/2D remains configured with the format selected at all times
regardless of the input signal’s format. If the input signal’s format is other than that
selected, the ERR LED will turn on or it may flash. This feature is handy when you
are certain that the input format will not change. To select the forced input for
forced input detection, follow these steps:
1. From the main menu, press SELECT to enable the STD-INPUT menu.
2. To force an input format, use the UP(+) or DOWN(-) push-button to select
between NTSC, PAL, PAL-M, or PAL-N. During forced input selection, the
AUTO LED remains off.
3. Press SELECT to store the mode of detection and the forced input format.
4. To return to the main menu, press SELECT until there is no more flashing LED.
NOTE: During automatic input detection, if the input signal changes while you
are attempting to change the value of a menu function, the ASD-211i/2D exits
from the menu, returns to normal and attempts to locate the correct format.
However, the ASD-211i/2D will not exit the menu if an input format is forced.
