Seat belts
General information
The vehicle is fitted with five seat belts to
ensure occupant safety. However, the seat
belts can only offer protection when ad-
justed correctly.
Always make sure that seat belts are being
worn by all occupants before driving off. Al-
though airbags enhance safety by providing
added protection, they do not replace seat
belts.
If needed, detach the seat belt in the rear
from the belt retainer on the side.
All belt fastening points are designed to
achieve the best possible protective effect
of the seat belts with proper use of the seat
belts and correct seat setting. Follow notes
on sitting safely, refer to page
.
The two outer seat belt buckles of the rear
seat are intended for the persons sitting on
the left and right.
The center seat belt buckle of the rear seat
is intended for the person sitting in the
middle.
Safety information
Warning
Use of a seat belt to buckle more than one
person will potentially defeat the ability of
the seat belt to serve its protective func-
tion. There is a risk of injury or danger to
life. Do not allow more than one person to
fasten a single seat belt. Infants and chil-
dren are not allowed on an occupant's lap,
but must be transported and secured in
designated child restraint systems.
Warning
The protective effect of safety gear, in-
cluding seat belts, can be limited or lost
when seat belts are fastened incorrectly.
An incorrectly fastened seat belt can cause
additional injuries, for instance in the
event of an accident, braking or evasive
maneuvers. There is a risk of injury or
danger to life. Make sure that all occu-
pants are wearing seat belts correctly.
Warning
The protective effect of safety gear, in-
cluding seat belts, may not be fully func-
tional or fail in the following situations:
–
The seat belts or seat belt buckles are
damaged, soiled, or changed in any
other way.
–
Seat belt tensioners or roll-up mecha-
nism were modified.
Seat belts can be imperceptibly damaged
in the event of an accident. There is a risk
of injury or danger to life. Do not modify
seat belts, seat belt buckles, seat belt ten-
sioners, roll-up mechanisms, or belt an-
chors and keep them clean. Have the seat
belts checked after an accident at the deal-
er’s service center or another qualified
service center or repair shop.
Correct use of seat belts
–
Wear the seat belt twist-free and tight
to your body over your lap and should-
ers.
–
Wear the seat belt deep on your hips
over your lap. The seat belt may not
press on your stomach.
