(2) Pass the media from the back of folding bar
through take-up tension bar.
(3) Fix the middle of the media with adhesive
tape.
(4) In the same manner, fix the left side and right
side of the media.
• Make sure that the there is no slack or
wrinkle on the media in such condition that
the roll media is pulled to right and left evenly,
and then stick the tape.

With switches of the take-up device, roll up
the media about once.
(1) Set the take-up direction using the direction
selector switch on the left, turn the ON/OFF
button on the right to ON, and then take up
the media.
(2) When the media stretched tight,turn the right
ON/OFF button to OFF to stop.
• Roll the media around the paper core one time or
more.
• If the amount of media pulled out in advance is
not sufficient for rolling the media around the
paper one time or more, press
[

] again to feed
the media and roll the media around using
take-up device.

Open the front cover, and hold the media
with the fabric retainer gently.
• Set the media so that it does not extend to the
right of the V-groove on the platen.
• When using thick media, adjust the height of
fabric reterner ( P.2-12).

Close the front cover, and press the
key.
• Take-up tension bar starts operating, and detects
and adjusts the media on the take-up side.
• When the detection of the media on the take-up
side is completed, the detection operation
continues to be performed on the winding
diameter of the media.
• If the media cannot be detected, carry out the
operations from step 2 again.
• When setting wider media, fix five positions and
more of the media with tape etc. The more fixing
positions are, the more tension of the media
becomes even.
• When the position of the fabric set and the position
of the core is out of alignment, loosen the screw of
the roll holder and make adjustment so that the
core comes to the appropriate position.
• From the roll of the feeding side, see and check
the position of both ends of the fabric are aligned
with the both ends of the roll on the feeding side.

• If the amount of the media is too short for taking up
the media around the paper core, be sure to press
[

] to feed the media and then take up the media
by take-up device.
Taking up the media forcibly may cause
malfunction.
Be sure to use the fabric retainer. Using it is
effective in the following respects.
• Avoids lifting an edge of the fabric used by curl,
warpage, or pilling.
• Avoids passing ink mist through to the back while
printing.
• When installing the media, align the media’s right
edge with the groove in the platen. Placing the
media rightward of the groove will make it rise up if
it moves obliquely, and this could cause damage
to the head.
• If a media is misaligned to the right/left more than
fixed position, a error message “MEDIA SET
POSITION R” is displayed. Set the media again.
