Trouble
Remedy
Gas/air flows in Gas Set position, but
does not flow when trigger is pressed.
Check torch connections (see torch Owner’s Manual).
No gas/air flow; Pilot light on; trouble
lights off; fan motor FM running.
Check torch connections (see torch Owner’s Manual).
Check for proper installation of torch parts and consumables (see torch Owner’s Manual).
Check for blocks in hose and sufficient gas/air supply pressure.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check air solenoid valve AS1.
No pilot arc.
If cutting arc does not start within 5 seconds of pilot arc, release torch trigger and wait 20 seconds for arc
starter circuit to reset before trying to restart pilot arc.
Check torch connections (see torch Owner’s Manual).
Check pilot fuse F1 and replace if needed (see Section 4-3).
Check for damaged torch or torch cable (see torch Owner’s Manual).
Check for correct gas/air pressure adjustment (see Section 3-3).
If Temperature light is On, thermostat TP1 and/or TP2 are open (overheating). Allow fan to run; the ther-
mostat closes when the unit has cooled (see Section 4-4).
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check pilot relay assembly CR1, and arc starter board PC6.
Erratic pilot arc, difficulty in establishing
an arc, and lowered cutting capacity.
Shorten standoff distance to within 1/8 in (3 mm) between torch tip and workpiece (see torch Owner’s
Manual).
Check for proper installation of torch parts and consumables (see torch Owner’s Manual).
Check for correct gas/air pressure adjustment (see Section 3-3).
Be sure work clamps from welding power source and cutter are connected to the same workpiece (see
Section 2-8).
Check current range setting at DIP switch and bus bars (see Section 2-5).
Check for excessive moisture and/or contaminants in gas/air supply (see Section 4-5).
If possible, change to welding power source/generator with higher cutting capacity.
Check for dirty filter/regulator and clean, if needed (see manufacturer’s instructions supplied with unit).
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check torch body.
Gas/Torch light on; Pilot light off.
Place Operation Mode switch in Cut position (see Section 3-3).
Check for correct gas/air pressure adjustment (see Section 3-3).
Check torch cup, and check for blocked hoses (see torch Owner’s Manual).
Clean filter/regulator filter. See instructions supplied with filter/regulator assembly.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check control board PC1, and gas solenoid AS1.
Temperature light on; Pilot light off.
Thermostat TP1 and/or TP2 open (overheating). Allow fan to run; the thermostat closes when the unit has
cooled (see Section 2-2).
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check control board PC1.
Unit pilots, but does not transfer.
Shorten standoff distance from 1/8 to 1/16 in (3 to 1.6 mm) between torch tip and workpiece (see torch
Owner’s Manual).
Be sure work clamps from welding power source and cutter are connected to the same workpiece (see
Section 2-8).
Check for proper installation of torch parts and consumables (see torch Owner’s Manual).
Increase welding power source/generator output setting to highest range (see welding power source
Owner’s Manual).
If Polarity light is on, AC input is improperly being used. If single-phase welding power source/generator
is being used, it may not be compatible with cutter. Change to three-phase, DC welding power source/
generator (see Section 4-4).
For engine-driven welding generators, be sure auto idle is Off and run engine at high engine RPM.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check control board PC1 and current sensing board CT2.
Fan motor does not run; Pilot light on.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check fan motor FM connections.
Trouble lights not working.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check front panel LED board PC2 and control board PC1.
Pilot light on; trouble lights on; cutting
output available.
Have Factory Authorized Service Agent check control board PC1.
