Germicidal efficacy of polyphenolic based disinfectant agents: 

 

5 minutes: Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1), Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), Hepatitis C Virus 
(HCV), Rotavirus, Coronavirus SARS. 
15 minutes: Staphylococcus Aureus, Candida Albicans. 
30 minutes: Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, Mycobacterium Bovis (TB). 

 
 

5.2.2. Procedure 

 

1) 

Cold Plate, moulds, heat extractors, dispensing slide and tweezers 

•

 

Disinfect plate, mould and heat extractor with polyphenol-based reagent, leaving it to work for the time 
necessary as explained above and, if necessary, remove any organic traces using a non-abrasive tool. 

•

 

Rinse with a cloth moistened with water 

•

 

Clean with ethanol (concentration in the range 70 

– 100%) 

•

 

Dry with adsorbent paper or a clean cloth. 

 
2) 

Chucks 

•

 

Rinse chucks under tap water until all freezing medium (OCT) traces go away. 

•

 

Wash with an appropriate alcohol-based detergent. 

•

 

Dry with adsorbent paper or a clean cloth. 

 
3) 

Final steps 

•

 

Place the positioning tool, chucks and heat extractors on the cold plate.

 

•

 

Before removing gloves, wash them with soap, water and disinfectant.

 

•

 

Remove the individual protection devices. 

 

•

 

Wash your hands.

 

•

 

Make sure the contaminated material is packed and disposed in an approved incinerator in compliance 
with all federal, provincial and local government regulation.

 

 

 

On completion of the cleaning operations, wait at least 5 minutes before connecting the 
power supply cable.
