5. DECONTAMINATION AND CLEANING
The procedure described in this chapter must be performed daily.
For safety reasons, any operation without the required personal protection equipment is
to be avoided.
PrestoCHILL decontamination is mandatory due to the biological hazard, in view of the
use of fresh specimens.
5.1. Safety precautions
The personnel involved in the decontamination procedure of PrestoCHILL and its optional (if present) must
wear the appropriate individual protective devices, in particular:
•
Single use, HI-RISK protective gloves (100% hi-risk nitrile or equivalent). Individual protection device
that meets the standard EN 374 and the Directive 89/686/CEE.
•
Antibacterial mask face for surgery room and white coat. Individual protection device, meets the
standard EN 149 Grade FFP3D and the Directive 89/686/CEE.
5.2. PrestoCHILL decontamination and cleaning procedure
5.2.1. Detergents
The following instructions must be strictly complied with in order to perform proper decontamination and
cleaning procedure.

Do NOT remove the unit's side panels during cleaning operations.
For decontamination and cleaning do not use procedures other than the one explained in
this chapter.
Before any operation, disconnect from the power supply mains. Do not use direct or high
pressure water to clean the instrument.
It is recommended to use disinfectants containing polyphenols.
