How are they caused?

A humming noise is made by the motor (compressor). This
noise can get louder for brief periods when the motor
switches on.

Blubb, blubb ...

The refrigerant makes bubbling, gurgling and hissing noises
as it flows through the pipes.

Click ...

A clicking sound can be heard whenever the thermostat
switches the motor on or off.

Sssrrrrr ...

On multi-zone and NoFrost appliances, you can sometimes
hear a faint sound coming from the flow of air inside the
appliance.

On appliances with a water tank, a humming sound can be
heard when water is being pumped out of the water tank.

Crack ...

A cracking sound can be heard when materials expand
inside the appliance.

Please keep in mind that a certain amount of noise is unavoidable (from the
