5.5.7 Telnet / SSH
The WCM unit allows remote management by either TELNET or the more secure,
encrypted SSH V2. This menu configures the device for remote management access as
shown:

5.5.7.1 Access Method
The Access method allows for selection between Telnet and SSH V2. When SSH is
selected, Telnet access is not permitted.
5.5.7.2 Timeout
To prevent a management session from being left open permanently with associated
security risks, an inactivity timeout is applied to the connection for both Telnet and SSH.
If there is no activity detected during the timeout period, the management session will be
closed by the WCM unit.
Note, that for SSH keep alive packet reception will not maintain the session, only data
transfer packets will count.
The timeout is defined in seconds, in the range 1 to 900. The default value of 60 is usually
too short for normal use, however and a value of 600 ( 5 minutes is usually more suitable )
For testing, a timeout of 0 may be used which disables the timeout. This should be
avoided with real unit deployments as this will prevent sessions timing out, and may lead
to a user being locked out as the 4 TCP session limit is reached.
