Fording

NOTE Water damage from fording

Water can enter the engine bay and the vehi-

cle interior in the following cases:

The maximum permissible fording depth

for driving through standing water is

exceeded.

A bow wave forms during fording.

Water pools when fording moving water.

Do not exceed the maximum permissible

fording depth.

Drive slowly through the water.

Keep in mind that driving through moving

water reduces the permissible fording

depth due to the pooling of water.

The maximum permissible fording depth

ready-to-drive loading condition is 30 cm.
Ready-to-drive loading condition means:

Full fuel tank

All fluids are topped up

With driver in vehicle

Notes on the angle of approach/departure

The specified values are maximum values for vehi-

cles that are in ready-to-drive loading condition.

The values depend on the vehicle tyres and vehi-

cle weight.
Ready-to-drive loading condition means:

With driver in vehicle

On vehicles with AIRMATIC, loads up to the maxi-

mum payload have no influence on the approach/

departure angles.
