Battery
Check fluid level in each cell approxi­
mately every fo u r weeks, and more
frequently during the sum m er and in
hot climates.
Refill battery only with distilled water.
Do not use metal funnels or push
through the o verfill-protection dia­
phragm s in filler holes.
The battery is com pletely filled when
the water stops draining through the
overfill-protection diaphragm.
To check the battery charge with a
hydrom eter, push its tip through the
overfill-protection diaphragm and
take the electrolyte sample.
Coat battery terminal clamps with
a cid p ro o f grease. Keep battery clean
and dry.
The service life of the battery is also
dependent on its condition of charge.
It m ust be maintained sufficiently
charged fo r the battery to last an o p ti­
mum length of time.
Therefore, we recom m end that you
have the battery charge checked fre ­
quently if you use the vehicle m ostly
fo r sh o rt distance trips, or if it is not
used fo r long periods of time.
Only charge battery with a battery
charger when it is disconnected from
the vehicle electrical circuit.
Warning!
Battery fluid contains sulfuric acid.
Dot not allow this fluid to com e in
co n ta ct w ith eyes, skin, o r clothing.
In case it does, im m ediately flush
affected area with w ater; if necessary
seek medical help.
A battery will also produce hydrogen
gas, w hich is flamm able and explo­
sive. Keep flames or sparks away
from battery, i.e. im proper connection
o f jum per cables, cigarette smoking,
etc..
While the engine is running the
battery term inal clam ps m ust not be
loosened or detached as otherwise
the alternator and o ther electronic
units w ould be damaged.
