Windshield Wipers
Emergency Operation of Sliding Roof
Unlocking the Fuel Filler Flap
In order to renew or release frozen
w indshield wiper blades, the w in d
shield wiper arms can be pulled out of
their recess by hand. S ufficient force
must be applied to overcom e spring
resistance.
In order to ensure operation of the
w indshield wiper even when it is
snowing heavily, an overload p ro te c
tion has been installed. It becom es
effective if a certain w iping resistance
is exceeded as a result of snow
accumulation. The w indshield w iper
arm will then no longer return
com pletely to its initial position,
although the windshield w iper m otor
continues to run a full cycle. If this
condition is encountered, the accu
mulated snow should be manually
removed when it is safe to do so.
The sliding roof can be opened or
closed manually should an electrical
m alfunction occur.
Remove small access plug in left
side-panel of trunk. Insert socket
w rench (from tool kit) through open
ing in panel and place on the
hex-drive on the electric m otor. Turn
so cke t wrench as desired to open or
close roof.
Turning socket clockwise, closes
roof.
If the central locking system does not
release the fuel filler flap autom ati
cally, pull down right tru n k panel
slightly and pull back the connecting
rod between the vacuum element and
d o o r tab.
