Measuring the ambient noise level
Before a measurement using a TEV or an HFCT sensor, the ambient noise level should
always be measured in order to be able to factor this into the subsequent evaluation of
the measurement results. To do so, proceed as follows:
1. Create a measured data folder with a suitable name (e.g. “GSP”) (see page 26).
2. Place the sensor on external equipment parts. The front end of the PD Scan can
be held on a metallic access door, for example, for an ambient noise level
measurement. When using an HFCT sensor, attaching it to the earth line of a
low voltage line is recommended.
3. Start the operating mode
TEV
or
HFCT
according to the measurement
procedure you would like to use to measure the ambient noise level.
4. Record measured values for around 10 seconds and then press the
button
in order to save the noise level to a folder specifically created for it.
5. Create a new measured data folder for the subsequent measurements on the
actual measurement object.
