MAC Address: This is the hardware address or physical address of a network component. With the
operating systems 2000, Windows XP as well as Windows Vista this number can be found under START
-> ALL PROGRAMS -> ACCESSORIES -> COMMAND PROMT
by entering the command „ipconfig/all“.
With the operating system Windows 98 the command calls „winipcfg.exe“.
•
SubMask: The sub mask separates an IP-address in a client and a host part. Usually its value is
255.255.255.0.
•
GateWay: Here enter the same value as stands in „Default Gateway“ of the network. Check it under:
CONTROL PANEL -> NETWORK CONNECTIONS -> LAN -> [right mouse click] -> PROPERTIES ->
INTERNET PROTOCOL (TCP/IP) -> Data.
PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet):
If using PPPoE as network protocol all network components get a dynamic IP-address allocated which means it
will change every time. Because of this you have to enter in „Account“ and in „Password“ the specifications of
your Internet Service Provider in this case. This way your IP-camera will be located.
HTTP Server Port:
•
The port number for the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is usually „80“.
DNS Server (Domain Name System):
The principal task of the DNS is the name resolution which means the translation of „hostnames“ into the
corresponding IP-address. DNS is not limited to the Internet. Offhand it is possible according to the DNS
definition that the resolution of local hostnames is organized in separate zones on a name server. There the
hostnames are saved. This one-time effort makes even sense in relative small networks because all addresses in
the network are managed centrally.
•
DNS1 and DNS2 you can find under: CONTROL PANEL -> NETWORK CONNECTIONS -> LAN -> [right
mouse click] -> PROPERTIES -> INTERNET PROTOCOL (TCP/IP) -> Data.
