Hydraulic Filter
Filters oil from the pump to the accumulator. Removes particles larger than 3 micron in
size.
Theory of Operation (Hydraulic)
Hydraulic Power Unit
With the unit plugged-in, the following is the manner of operation for the machine.
• The HPU is powered by a 0.3 HP electric motor that drives a .065 in³/rev (1/2
GPM) hydraulic gear pump.
• The pump supplies pressurized hydraulic fluid through a high pressure filter to a
hydraulic accumulator.
• The accumulator supplies pressurized hydraulic fluid (830-1350 psi) to a proportional
pressure reducing/relieving valve.
• The operator sets the facing, heating and fusion pressure independently using
electrical rheostats. These pressures can be set to approximately 800 psi.
• The selected pressure is delivered to a solenoid controlled directional valve that in turn
delivers flow to open or close the carriage.
• Hydraulic return fluid from the carriage is directed through the manifold to hydraulic
reservoir.
• When the system pressure drops below 830 psi the electric motor starts and the pump
recharges the accumulator to 1350 psi.
