(contact with or inhalation of the dust may cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory diseases to the

operator or bystanders);

wear a dust mask and work with a dust extraction device when connectable

• Certain kinds of dust are classified as carcinogenic (such as oak and beech dust) especially in conjunction

with additives for wood conditioning;

wear a dust mask and work with a dust extraction device when

connectable

• Follow the dust-related national requirements for the materials you want to work with

• Wear protective gloves, safety glasses, close-fitting clothes and hair protection (for long hair)

•

Secure the workpiece

(a workpiece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more securely than

by hand)

• When sanding metal, sparks are generated; do not use dustbox and keep other persons and combustible

material from work area

DURING USE

• Always keep the cord away from moving parts of the tool; direct the cord to the rear, away from the tool

• Do not touch the moving sanding disc

• In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction, immediately switch off the tool and disconnect the plug

• If the cord is damaged or cut through while working, do not touch the cord, but immediately disconnect

the plug

AFTER USE

• When you put away the tool, switch off the motor and ensure that all moving parts have come to a

complete standstill WHEN CONNECTING NEW 3-PIN PLUG (U.K. ONLY):

• Do not connect the blue (= neutral) or brown (= live) wire in the cord of this tool to the earth terminal of

the plug

• If for any reason the old plug is cut off the cord of this tool, it must be disposed of safely and not left

unattended

OPERATING INSTRUCTION

Before the first use

Remove the finishing sander and all accessories out of the packaging and check all parts for damage in

transit.Keep packaging material out of reach of children. There is risk of suffocation. Attaching Sanding

Paper Choose the sanding paper according to the material being worked. Use sanding paper with a 40

resp, 60 grain for rough sanding and on uneven surfaces. Use the finder grain of 120 for smoother finish.

1. Attach the sanding paper on the sanding plate and make sure the holes on the sanding paper fit with

openings on the base plate. Only this way the sanding dust can be extracted through suction ducts in the

sanding plate.

2. Firmly press sanding paper down on the sanding plate.

Selecting the Sanding paper

Always use abrasive papers suited to the material you want to sand. Then papers must have correct grain

size.

Depending on grain size there are degrees of coarseness. The coarseness is specified by a number on the

back of papers. The higher the number is, the finer the grain.

It is important to use the right paper for each job. For rough sanding use grain sizes up to 80, for soft wood

as larch, pine or spruce use papers from 60grit to 150grit.For dense hardwood as beech or maple, the grain

sizes with up to 220 can be used.

Assembling/Disassembling/Emptying the Dust Bag

Always use the dust bag when sanding

1. Place the dust bag onto the provided exhaust connection. Push the box up to the end into housing.

2. To remove the dust collection box, just pull the box outwards. Preferably clean the dust collection box

and the exhause connection in the housing after each use. By doing this the dust collection box can be

easily inserted and removed.

3. For emptying the dust collection bag, just tap out or, if available, clean with compressed air.

Inserting sand paper

Switch off the machine, disconnect the power.

Switching on and off

1. Connect the plug to a power socket

2. Switch on continuous operation, press button(2)

3. Switch off continuous operation: press button(2)

Sanding

1. Position the entire sanding surface on the piece of work

2. Switch the machine on and guide it over the surface to be sanded using circular motions. Do not apply

additional pressure to the machine when sanding, the weight of the machine itself is usually sufficient to

ensure optimum revolutions and a good result. Do not tip! Complete several sanding processes using sand

paper that gradually gets finder.

CLEANING AND MAINTANCE

CAUTION! Before performing any care or maintenance work, disconnect from the power.

Use a dry brush to clean the dust extraction openings. Clean the housing with a damp cloth only – do

not use solvents! Then dry well. Remove the dust collection bag from the plastic section to empty. Empty

carefully, try not to create dust. Do not breathe in saw dust! Wash out the bag in cold soapy water and

allow drying.

Before each use, check the machine, the cable and accessories to ensure that they are not damaged. Have

any necessary repairs completed by a specialist.

Machines that no longer function properly should be disposed off correctly in accordance with the local

regulations.

ENVIRONMENT

Do not dispose of electric tools, accessories and packaging together with household waste material -

in observance of European Directive 2002/96/EC on waste of electric and electronic equipment and its

implementation in accordance with national law, electric tools that have reached the end of their life must

be collected separately and returned to an environmentally compatible recycling facility.
