The default number of runs in ‘auto’ measurement duration is 30, but for a stable
sample as few as 10 runs may be required. The measurement will then complete
even though the displayed run total has not been achieved.
With Manual selected the measurement will use the user defined settings. The
time may be reduced for the measurement of a latex standard, or increased to
improve the repeatability of the measurement of particularly polydisperse
samples. Manual measurements can be up to 10,800 runs. For a zeta potential
measurement all the individual runs are accumulated and then averaged to give a
final zeta potential result. Therefore the more runs performed the better the
repeatability. Naturally the more runs selected the longer the duration of the
complete measurement. However if the sample has a high conductivity,
measuring for too long can affect the sample and the electrodes.

This option allows a sample to be measured more than once.

Result calculation
If characteristics are already known about the sample being measured, this
dialogue will allow an appropriate analysis model to be applied and so optimise
the measurement calculation.
