3.4 ELECTRIC STARTER
• Put the scooter on the centre stand (See Section 2.4).
• Fit the ignition key and turn it on position .
• Pull one of the two brake levers (better the rear brake one).
• Push the starter button.
• Release the starter button as soon as the engine starts.
• Release the stand and sit on the saddle.
Note: If the engine does not start, release the starter button, wait
a few seconds, then try again. Do not keep the starter pressed
for more than 10 seconds each attempt, otherwise the battery
will discharge. To ensure long engine life, never accelerate hard
when the engine is cold.
3.5 KICKSTARTER
• This vehicle is equipped with a kicklstarter lever (1 - Fig. 19) for
emergency kickstarting (by foot).
• Kickstarting is very useful if the battery is flat, the electric starter
is out of order, etc...
• When using the kickstarter, always be sure the battery, even if
exhausted, is connected to the main wiring.
In these cases, immediately contact a MALAGUTI Vendor/
Dealer, in order to find out and solve the failure cause.

Check that the engine emergency stop switch on the right control is
in position
• The front headlight is automatically switched on when you fit the ignition
key, turn it clockwise to position and start the engine.

ignition key, turn it clockwise to position and start the engine.
• To start the engine by the kickstarter lever:
- put the vehicle steadily on the stand. Manually draw out (turn
outwards) the kickstarter lever (A).
- Keep your hands firmly on the handlebar grips. Keep the rear
brake lever engaged with your left hand, thus avoiding any
scooter displacement. With your right hand, hold the twist grip
throttle control without turning it in order not to flood the engine
while trying to start it.
• Put your left foot on the lever (A) (do not hit it), push it slightly to put
the piston under compression inside the cylinder, then push the
lever deeply down. If the engine does not start at first attempt, try
again without turning the twist grip throttle control until the engine
starts normally.
Note: if you have not used the vehicle for a few days, probably the
engine will not start at once. In this case, turn the twist grip throttle
control slightly and repeat the starting procedure again.
