Checking the fifth wheel bearing

The fifth wheel bearings are attached to the vehicle frame.

Check the fastening screws (2 x 2) of the fifth wheel
bearings for proper tightness.

Replace any screws that become loose.
Glue in the new locking screw with Loctite 242 and tighten
the screw using the specified torque, from
730 to 750 Nm .

Check the tightness of the axle bearing.
The axle bearing should be in the middle between the
bearing supports. Lateral play of 0.5 to 1.5 mm is permitted.
One-sided displacement or the exceeding of the lateral play
need to be evened out by washer discs.
