7.12.2.5 Formed Caster Wheel Removal and
Installation
DANGER
To avoid severe personal injury or death
caused by machine runaway, shut off engine,
and remove key before performing any of the
following checks and/or adjustments.
a. Remove the caster wheel as follows:
1. Park windrower on level ground, and block
all wheels.
2. Place GSL in N-DETENT, shut down
engine, and remove key.
3. Raise end of walking beam using a jack
(4000 lb (1816 kg) capacity) (or other
suitable lifting device) until the wheel is
slightly off the ground.
4. Undo the six wheel bolts (A), and remove
wheel from hub.
b. Install the caster wheel as follows:
1. Position wheel on hub, and install wheel
bolts (A).
2. Torque bolts (A) to 120 ft∙lbf (163 N∙m) using
the tightening sequence as shown on
previous page.
3. Lower windrower, and remove jack.
7.12.2.6 Caster Wheels Anti-Shimmy Dampeners
Each caster is equipped with a fluid filled
anti-shimmy dampener (B).
The mounting bolts (C) need to be checked
periodically for security. Refer to Section 7.13
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE.
•
Inboard bolt should be tightened to 100 ft∙lbf
(135 N∙m).
•
Outboard bolt should be tightened to 85 ft∙lbf
(115 N∙m).
