3.2
The tests
It is necessary to do some pre-dive tests before each dive in order to check the TRITON.
They must be done just before going into the water because the TRITON can be damaged
during the transport.
Three tests are needed before each dive. They must be done in the following order:
•
Positive pressure test is done at first in order to check that o-rings and the connections
are correctly positioned.
•
Negative test is done to detect any leak into the loop.
•
Cells checking is done after the negative pressure test, in order to take advantage of
the empty state of the TRITON in order to inject the oxygen, only.
These tests are described here below:
3.2.1
Positive pressure test
Positive pressure test (as negative pressure test) is used in order to detect leaks. The re-
breather can not work properly in case of leaks.
The rebreather must be fully setted and tanks must be closed before performing Positive
pressure test. Overpressure valve has to be closed.
In order to see what is going on inside the rebreather during tests, it is better to let kevlar
bag fully open.
The goal of this test is to fill the rebreather with air and check if there is any loss of gas.
The user has to connect his mouth to the loop,
inspire
by the nose then
blow
by the mouth
several times until the couterlungs are full as much as possible and the overpressure valve
triggers. During the last
blowing
, close the DSV.
The user has to observe the counterlung and the breathing hoses (flexible elements) and
watch any movement due to the
loss of gas
.
