7. See Fig. 4. Attach the C-Shank assemblies on the tubes extending from the main
gang using ½” x 3 ½” bolts with ½” lock washers and ½” hex nuts. For 5-Shank
gangs, each center gang receives 5 shanks positioned as in Fig. 3. The outside
gangs receive 3 shanks, positioned on the inside of the gang. In regard to the
outside gang, the front adjustable tube that would extend to the outside is replaced
by an 8-inch 2”x 2” square spacer tube (21). For 3-Shank gangs, each center gang
receives 3 shanks positioned as in Fig. 3. The outside gangs receive 2 shanks,
positioned on the inside of the gang. Secure all assemblies, except the rear rank,
with C-Shank assembly locks by placing one 1 ¼”x 5” plate on each side of the
assembly. Insert a ½”x 2”x 3 ¼” U-bolt around the bottom of the tube and
through the plate holes. Secure with ½” lock washers, and ½” hex nuts. See Fig. 4.

8. See Fig. 5. Mount the gauge wheel (24) onto the gauge wheel arm (23), and
secure with the
3/8
”x 1” square head set screw (25). Check the set screw for
tightness frequently after operation. Mount the gauge wheel assembly on the
gangs by positioning the arm (23) between the slotted channels on the left side of
the gang. Position the gauge wheel under the center of the gang and then fasten
the mounting plate (26), using two ½”x 2 ½” carriage bolts (27) with ½” lock
washers, and ½” hex nuts.
9. Attach the three parallel arms to the gang. Insert one each of the powder metal
bushings (13) into one end of the single upper parallel arm (32) and into the pad
ends of the two lower parallel arms with welded pad (33). Position the upper arm,
with powder metal bushing, between the two upper holes of the inner gang tower.
Insert a
5/8
”x 4” bolt (15) through the upper gang tower holes and arm. Secure
the bolt with a
5/8
” hex nut (16) and a
5/8
” thin hex nut (17).
