OPEN TOP SHIELD MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS 

 
 
1.  Attach lower swing arm brackets to shield.  Align the rear (opposite curve end) four 

holes of the shield (1 or 1A) with the four holes of the lower swing arm bracket (2).  Insert 
four 

5/16

”x ¾” bolts (8) through four 

5/16

” flat washers (19), then through the aligned 

holes of the shield/bracket.  Secure with 

5/16

” lock washers (18), and 

5/16

” hex nuts (14). 

 
2.  Align the front (curved end) four holes of the shield (1 or 1A) with the four holes of the 

lower sing arm bracket (2).  Insert three 

5/16

”x ¾” bolts (8) through three 

5/16

” flat 

washers (19), then through the aligned front and lower holes of the shield/bracket.  Secure 
with 

5/16

” lock washers (18), and 

5/16

” hex nuts (14).  Insert one 

5/16

”x 1” bolt (9) 

through one 

5/16

” flat washer (19), then through the aligned remaining hole of the 

shield/bracket.  Secure with 

5/16

” hex nut (14).  Place the end link of the 26” chain (24) 

over the remaining thread of the 

5/16

”x 1” bolt.  Secure with 

5/16

” flat washer (19), 

5/16

” 

lock washer (18), and 

5/16

” hex nut (14). 

 
3.  Attach parallel swing arms to shield.  Insert four Nylatron bushings (23) into parallel 

swing arms.  Place one end of each parallel swing arm/bushing over the mounted lower 
swing arm bracket studs (2).  Secure with 

5/8

” flat washer (20), and 

5/8

” center lock nuts 

(13). 

 
4.  Attach parallel swing arms to upper swing arm component.  Align the open parallel 

swing arm ends (4) within the holes of the upper swing arm component (164).  Insert 

5/8

”x 

3” bolts (10) through outer hole, parallel swing arm/bushing, and opposite inner hole.  
Secure with 

5/8

” flat washer (20), and 

5/8

” center lock nuts (13).  Insert remaining end link 

of the 26” chain (24) through rear slot of the upper swing arm component (164).  Secure 
with #6 Hairpin (25). 
 

5.  Mount toolbar shield mount bracket (not shown) to gang head tower.  Remove the 
upper 

5/8

”x 3 ½” bolt/upper parallel arm from the gang head tower.  Place the toolbar 

shield mounting bracket over the top of the head tower, aligning the bracket holes with the 

upper head tower holes.  Position the upper arm, with nylon bushing, between the two 
upper holes of the inner gang tower.  Insert a 

5/8

”x 4 ½” bolt through the, mounting 

bracket holes, the upper gang tower holes, and the arm.  Secure the bolt with a 

5/8

” hex 

nut (16) and a 

5/8

” thin hex nut. 

 

6.  Attach the tube component to the toolbar shield mount bracket.  Center the tube 
component (165 or 166) on the toolbar shield mounting bracket (not shown).  Place two 
½”x 2”x 3 ¼” U-Bolts around the top of the tube component with threaded ends 

protruding through the mounting bracket holes.  Secure with four ½” lock washers, and 
four ½” hex nuts. 
 

7.  Attach open top shield component to tube component.  Position the upper swing arm 
component’s (164) four top holes at the desired location under the tube component (165 or 
166).  Place two ½”x 2”x 3 ¼” U-Bolts (17) around the top of the tube component (165 or 

166) with threaded ends protruding through the upper swing arm component’s (164) four 
top holes.  Secure with four ½” lock washers (22), and four ½” hex nuts (16).
