Self-winding chronographs
L683, L688 – COLUMN WHEEL, L696, L705
Show the hours, minutes, seconds, and the date. Can
be used to time events that last up to 30 minutes
(cal. L705) or 12 hours (cal. L683, L688, L696), the re-
sults being shown to 1/5th of a second.
2-position crown
Winding
(crown pushed right in)
The natural movements of your wrist will automatically
wind your Longines chronograph, which has a power-
reserve of 46 hours (54 hours for cal. L688). It is only nec-
essary to wind your watch manually if it has not be worn
for several days.
Adjusting the time and stop seconds
Pull the crown right out to position

, which will stop the
counter hand (small seconds). Adjust the time by turn-
ing the crown in either direction. Synchronise the watch
with a time signal (telephone, radio, TV) and push the
crown back in again to position
1
.
Quick date adjustment
Push-piece
C
for adjusting the date is at 10 o’clock. Us-
ing the soft-pointed instrument provided by Longines,
press the push-piece to obtain the exact date. It is nec-
essary to adjust the date at the end of each month with
less than 31 days.
