INTRODUCTION
All users must read these operating instruc-
tions carefully prior to the initial operation.
These instructions are intended to acquaint
the user with the truck and enable him to use
it to the full extent of its intended capabilities.
The operating instructions contain important
information on how to handle the truck in a
safe, correct and economic way. Acting in ac-
cordance with these instructions helps to avoid
dangers, reduce repair costs and down time
and to increase the reliability and lifetime of
the truck. This operating instruction must al-
ways be made available to the operator in the
area where he is using the hand pallet truck.
Apart from the operating instructions and the
accident prevention act valid for the respec-
tive country and area where the truck is used,
also the commonly accepted regulations for
safe and professional work must be adhered
to.
CORRECT OPERATION
- The hand pallet truck is fitted with a pres-
sure control valve that ensures the truck is
not overloaded.
- The flooring where the hand pallet truck is
to be used must be slip resistant, solid, even
and free from potholes.
- If the flooring slopes more than 5% the hand
pallet truck must be fitted with a handbrake.
- To ensure safe operation of the hand pallet
truck the ambient lighting should have a
minimal value of 50 Lux.
- The capacity indicated on the truck is the
maximum safe working load which never be
exceeded.
- The hand pallet truck has been constructed
to transport pallets/skeleton boxes, contain-
ers or similar over even, level ground.
- Position and transport loads only on the forks
(see Fig. 1 --++
3).
- Do not leave raised loads unattended for
longer periods of time.
- The hand pallet truck can be operated in
ambient temperatures between –10
°
C and
+50
°
C. Consult the manufacturer in case
of extreme working conditions.
- The steering has a lock of 97
°
on both sides
- The operator may only start to move the truck
after he has checked that the load is posi-
tioned correctly on the forks and cannot over-
turn and all personnel are clear of the dan-
ger zone.
- Only trained, qualified and instructed per-
sonnel may operate the hand pallet truck.
GB
Special safety shoes must be worn to
prevent injuries.
- All necessary date is shown on the name-
plate that is fitted inside the frame (Fig. 4).
- If the hand pallet truck is to be used to
load / unload lorries it must be tightly
secured during travel.
- The accident prevention act valid for the
respective country and area where the hand
pallet truck is used, also the commonly
accepted regulations for safe and profession-
al work must be adhered to.
- In order to ensure correct operation not only
the operating instructions, but also the con-
ditions for inspection and maintenance must
be complied with.
- If defects are found, stop using the hand
pallet truck immediately.
INCORRECT OPERATION
- Do not exceed the maximum lifting capacity
of the hand pallet truck.
- Do not place hands or feet under the raised
forks.
- It is forbidden to use the hand pallet truck
as a scooter.
- Space the load evenly on both forks.
- Do not use the hand pallet truck as a jack.
- Do not use the hand pallet truck in areas
that are not adequately lit.
- Because of possible exhaustion and loss of
control hand pallet trucks must not be used
on gradients.
Attention:
Valid for hand pallet trucks
without brakes.
- Do not use the forks as levers.
- Do not load a single fork arm to lift machines.
- The hand pallet truck must not come into
contact with foodstuff.
Attention:
Not valid for stainless steel
designs.
- Do not turn the handle 90
°
to halt the hand
pallet truck.
- The hand pallet truck must not be used in
explosion-endangered environments (special
designs on request).
ASSEMBLE THE HANDLE
Place the handle on the actuation block there-
by threading the link connection through the
bore of the actuating block. Secure the
handle with three screws. Connect the
connection link to the operating lever.
ADJUST THE LOWERING ACTION
Switch the control lever to the “raise forks”
position (Pos. 1 in Fig. 7) and make several
pumping actions with the handle until the
unloaded forks are fully raised. Now move the
control lever to the “neutral” position (Pos. 3
4
in Fig. 7). Loosen the Hex. Nut. Slowly turn
the setscrew in a clockwise direction until the
forks just start to lower. Now turn the setscrew

turns anticlockwise and secure the
setscrew with the locknut.
Attention:
The lowering function must be
available in all handle positions.
INITIAL OPERATION
Assembly of the hand pallet truck
(see Fig. 10)
INSPECTION BEFORE
COMMISSIONING
Each hand pallet truck must be inspected prior
to initial operation by a competent person. The
inspection is mainly visual and functional and
shall establish the hand pallet truck is safe
and has not been damaged by incorrect
transport or storage. The functional test shall
include lifting, transporting and lowering a
small load. As required, defects and damage
must be repaired.
Inspections should be made by a
representative of the manufacturer or the
supplier although the company can assign its
own suitably trained personnel.
INSPECTION BEFORE STARTING WORK
Every time, before starting work, inspect the
hand pallet truck visually for defects or
damage. Lift, transport and lower a small load
to check the functionality.
Check the brakes
Hand pallet trucks, which are fitted with
brakes, must be tested to ensure the func-
tionality of the brake system. Apply the brake
as described in HAND PALLET TRUCKS WITH
BRAKES. Thereafter try to move the truck by
pushing or pulling. The hand pallet truck
should not move.
Check the frame
Check the frame at regular intervals for signs
of damage, deformation, cracks/fractures,
wear or corrosion.
Check the handle
Check the handle at regular intervals for signs
of damage, deformation, cracks/fractures,
wear or corrosion.
Also check all screwed connections are tight.
Check the oil level
The oil level must be checked at least every
six months (oil viscosity 30 Cst at 40
°
C /
total volume 0.3 litre.). For temperatures
around 0
°
C we recommend AVILUB oil RSL
22.
