Operation

Switching On

The G-TECTA

®

SG is designed to be very easy to

operate. Please follow these simple steps to ensure

your instrument is ready for use:

Step 1

WARNING

Ensure the instrument is in

clean air.

Step 2

Press and hold the mode button for approximately

3 seconds until the red LED flashes on the

instrument. The display screen will light up and

the instrument will begin its start up sequence.

G-TECTA

®

 SG Start-Up Sequence

The instrument will test the alarm LEDs, the alarm

sounder, the vibration alarms and the display

screen. The sounder may be silenced by pressing

the mode button once.

The instrument will continue through a start

up sequence as shown below, this will take

approximately 20 seconds.

Note:

During the start up sequence, check the

battery status symbol to ensure you have enough

battery charge to use the instrument.

Calibration Check

If the instrument is due for calibration in less than

31 days “CAL xx” will be displayed, where xx is

the number of days to the next calibration. When

the date has expired, G-TECTA

®

 SG will display the

warning message “CAL”.

When “CAL” is displayed the instrument can

still function as a standard feature, although we

strongly recommend that the instrument is sent

for calibration as soon as possible. Press the mode

button to continue to normal operating mode.

Note:

 G-TECTA

®

SG can be set to lock in the event of

the CAL date expiring by using G-TECTA

®

 PC software.

Auto Zero

The Auto Zero function is enabled as a default

setting*. During start-up, the instrument will display

the Auto Zero confirm screen and the display will

alternate between “Zero” and “????”. Press the

mode button to activate the Auto Zero function.

Note:

The instrument will time out in 10 seconds then

change to normal operating mode, without performing

an auto zero, if the mode button is not pressed.

Switching Off

Press and hold the mode button for 5 seconds,

the display will count down until the display shows

OFF. If you release the mode button during the

countdown, the G-TECTA

®

 SG will return to normal

operating mode.

* The Auto Zero setting can be configured to operate
automatically, on user confirmation (default), or disabled,
using G-TECTA

®
