Key Operation Information
Really the web interface is the man communication tool used to manage the encoder
on a day to day basis. This is a highly reliable pc independent
device capable of operations for weeks, months and years
without user direct intervention if the environment for the unit
is structured for this. This encoder is also more rugged and
reliable than hauling an entire PC to do field encoding and
tolerates a wide range of temperatures and climates. In order to maximize your benefits
from this high quality device we want you to be aware of the best recommended
operation procedures and settings. Our goal is to make us look good together.
Using the web
command, and wireless
networking, you can
administer from locations
you choose, personally.
Useful tips and tricks;
•
Use high quality source as possible for your encoding.
•
Use a higher quality monitor than the client destination
, you want to
see if an image problem or a quality issue comes up BEFORE your client
or customer does.
Try this:
Experiment with setting different encoding values for different video
content. Sports footage, sea and water shots and high motion video require a higher bit
rate than newsroom or static “talking head” shots. Don’t be afraid to learn more about
how to configure this unit on the fly for best image reproduction.
Remember that latency is best reduced with as few network devices between encoder
and decoder. While this is a real-time encoder, an efficient network will not introduce
any device, between a point to point solution that is not absolutely required. Extra
hubs, routers and switchers can lead to packet loss, or video stream failure in extreme
cases.
Document the settings and configuration of each unit in operation. Not only will this
aid you if you need to reconfigure an encoder or decoder. Since these units are usually
left in the field and left in operation at remote locations, documenting them is very
helpful.
