Figure 3.8 select "Echo typed characters locally" then click OK and OK to properties.
To finish teaching the computer and the encoder to communicate select the box
marked “Echo typed characters locally”. Then click “OK” and “OK”
With other OS platforms and terminal programs the basic functions are the same. Just
remember to set the data rate at 9600 Bits per second and the ASCII character sending
to Local Echo with the correct serial port connected.
Configuring Step Two
This unit was designed to have default functions programmed to non-volatile memory
to restore default operation after a power loss. The power cycle values will be the
defaults you now enter into the unit. So if the unit loses the power source it will restart
using the values programmed with the serial port when power is restored.
Please write your
default settings in
appendix A,
“Serial port menu
options”
and use that
worksheet to
gather information
needed to operate
your encoder.
Put simply, you will now program the default settings for the encoder. If power is lost
the unit will return to this default value, and NOT the value set on the encoder’s web
interface. Once power is restored the web interface can change the parameters as
normally
.
