4.6. Once the selection of Beacons is made the

Confirm

button will move to the screen that

asks the user to switch on the ELT. In this case the 121.5MHz beacon has been
selected. The procedure for all beacon tests is the same.

4.7. When the ELT is switched on

Confirm

should be selected as quickly as possible. This

initiates a 20 second count down during which the ARTS is receiving the beacon
information.
NOTE: the ELT should not be switched on for more than 20 seconds. 20 seconds is the
maximum time the ELT should be transmitting. Once valid data is received or the 20
seconds is finished the ELT should be switched off.
