The
Domain Name System
(
DNS
) is a distributed hierarchical naming system for computers, services, or
any resource connected to the Internet or a private network. It associates the information with domain
names assigned to each of the participants. Most importantly, it translates domain names meaningful to
humans into the numerical (binary) identifiers associated with networking equipment for the purpose of
locating and addressing these devices worldwide.
The DNS Setting page is used to manage the DNS settings of a device. A sample screenshot of the page is
shown below:

DNS Service:
To enable/disable all the DNS Service Configurations.
Host Configuration:
Choose either Automatic or Manual settings. It displays hostname of the device. If
the Host setting is chosen as Manual, then specify the hostname of the device.
Note
:
(1) This value ranges from 1 to 64 alpha-numeric characters.
(2)
Special characters ‘
-
’(hyphen) and ‘_’(underscore) are allowed.
(3) It must not start or end w
ith a ‘
-
’(hyphen).
(4)
IE browsers won’t work correctly if any part of the hostname
contains underscore (_) character.
Domain Name Server Configuration
DNS Server Address will support the following:
- IPv4 Address format.

: IPv4 Addresses should be given in dotted decimal representation.
