General
1 General
The mobile Kroll hot-water unit BKM120 is the
result of decades of experience and intensive
development work. The core piece of the unit is
our well-proven permanently condensing boiler
BK100. Its main characteristic is the very high
degree of efficiency that makes the BKM120 a
very energy saving unit. We are convinced to
hand you over a top-quality product.
To achieve a long service life and a trouble-free
operation, all details concerning installation and
commissioning that are described in this manual
have to be observed carefully.
Before installation and commissioning, read
the manual carefully.
Installation, mounting and commissioning must
be done by a professional.

1.1 Fields of application
Typically, the BKM120 is used as an additional
heating or a transitional heating, e.g. during
replacement works or when changing the local
warm water system.
Furthermore, the BKM120 is used to provide pro-
cess heat e.g. for defrosting or drying processes.
It is suitable for big events such as music fes-
tivals, exhibitions, shows or sports events as a
temporary heating water or domestic hot water
generator.
1.2 Equipment and principle
The heat-creating part of the BKM120 is the per-
manently condensing boiler BK100. The interface
to the external connection of the heating circuit is
a plate heat exchanger.
In the following, the circuit of the heat transfer
medium between boiler and heat transformer
will be called "primary circuit" or "primary side".
The circuit which is connected externally and
flowing through the heat transformer at the
opposite side, will be called "secondary circuit"
or "secondary side".
Note
The burner is supplied with oil (oil connection at
the back of the BKM120, single-line system) and
creates a power of up to 120 kW inside the boiler.
The energy is transferred to the primary circuit.
To protect it from freezing, it consists of a mixture
of ethylene-glycol and water.
The actual heat transfer to the water of the
secondary circuit takes place inside the plate
heat transformer. The desired outlet temperature
is to be adjusted at the control. The complete
secondary side is made of stainless steel.
The condensate being created during the con-
densation of the flue gas is neutralized in a
downstream neutralization box (pH around 7)
and can then be lead into the canalization.
The combustion air is taken in at the upper
rear of the BKM120. The flue gas is lead away
through a chimney at the back.
The following page shows a pipework scheme
of the principle in use with the existing units and
valves. The exact position of the single compo-
nents and connections in the scheme does not
necessarily correspond to their real position. The
manual refers to this pipework scheme by the
indicated denomination of the components (B1,
X1, V3,…).
