EL.05E electric heating element for combined heating
The electric heating element (hereinafter referred to only as EHE) is intended for direct heating of the heat-carrying
medium in KORALUX tubular radiators and RADIK COMBI VK panel radiators during the period when the central heating
system is not being operated. In this case, the filling of the tubular or panel radiator (hereinafter referred to only as “radiator”)
is heated by the EHE. The EHE is designed for use in radiators, which are also connected to a hot water heating system with
expansion tank. Only a manufacturer of electrical appliances may fit the EHE into electric radiators (i.e. into radiators which
are not connected to the hot water heating system).
Use and description
The output of the EHE is selected in relation to the output of the radiator according to recommendation by its
manufacturer. Use of an EHE with a higher output than is recommended for the radiator by its manufacturer, is
forbidden! The EHE must always be installed in a vertical position with the power supply at the bottom (KORALUX
radiators) or horizontally in the lowest part of the radiator (RADIK COMBI VK). Fitting of the EHE into the radiator
vertically from the top or horizontally in the upper part of the radiator is forbidden! When installing and operating
the element, care must be taken to ensure that the heat-carrying medium (i.e. water), the volume of which expands
due to increased temperature, can flow into the expansion tank.
A temperature limiter is installed inside the EHE. This is intended to protect the user against the consequences of the
radiator overheating if the conditions for correct use are not adhered to. If the temperature of the liquid in the radiator exceeds
90°C, the limiter breaks (disconnects) the electric circuit of the EHE and makes it impossible for the contact to be closed again
until the radiator has cooled down sufficiently. Once the liquid in the radiator has cooled down sufficiently, the limiter again
connects the electric circuit of the EHE.
If the temperature of the radiator fluctuates significantly during long-term operation of the EHE, this may be caused by the
temperature limiter switching off.
Switching off of the regulator can be caused by the following circumstances:
-
An EHE with an output greater than recommended by the radiator manufacturer has been installed into the
radiator
-
The heat-carrying medium used is circulating badly in the radiator – do not use oil, only water or water with
anti-freeze designed for heating systems!
-
The radiator is aerated or there is no liquid in it at all
-
The radiator cannot transfer heat to the environment – the radiator is covered by too much textile (e.g. when
drying towels)
Ascertain the specific cause of the regulator having been switched and remove it!
The temperature regulator protects you against possible danger, but is not intended for regular disconnection
of the element from the mains!
