7.10 KONTRONIK protocol
The KONTRONIK protocol is a special protocol
which can be used for special applications, e.g. for
telemetry data when using the FBL System of Brain.
8. Updates
You can update your KOLIBRI firmware online
without sending it to KONTRONIK, if the following
requirements are met:
•
KOLIBRI ESC
•
KONTRONIK Programming unit
•
PC with Windows ™ operating system
•
Internet connection
•
Battery (2 - 6S LiPo) KOLIBRI LV-I
•
Battery (6 - 12S LiPo) KOLIBRI HV-I
ATTENTION!
Please ensure that the battery voltage is
applied without interruption, otherwise the
bootloader may be damaged, and the
controller has to bes sent to KONTRONIK!
1.
Disconnect the Mastercable from the KOLIBRI
of your receiver (slave also) and c
onnect the
KOLIBRI via the Mastercable to the female
connector of your programming unit.
2.
Download the latest software version for your
ESC from our KONTRONIK homepage
(www.kontronik.com) and save the file to your
PC.
3.
Connect the KOLIBRI to a suitable battery and
switch on the programming unit.
4.
Plug the programming unit via the USB cable to
a Windows ™ PC.
5.
Run the update from your PC by double-
clicking the downloaded file.
6.
When connecting the KOLIBRI to the
programming unit, the currently installed
software version is shown in the screen output
of the update software.
7.
When the PC and the programming unit
recognize the connected KOLIBRI, the update
button in your programming unit appears
selectable.
8.
The update runs automatically. During the
update none of these existing connections must
be separated.
9.
When the update is completed successfully a
confirmation of the new software version
appears on the programming unit
’s display.
10.
After a successful update all connections can
be disconnected.
Attention: after updating a reset has to be
done (KONTRONIK Programming unit
or
Mode 1). Otherwise the ESC looks dead. All
previously made preferences will be reset,
the mode programming must be redone.
Special features of a bootloader update:
▪
Do points 1-10 as usual.
▪
After finishing the update, disconnect the
drive battery and reconnect it.
▪
Programming mode 1
▪
Disconnect and reconnect the drive battery.
Wait until the controller initializes.
▪
Press and hold the button until the
controller beeps (this can take several
seconds). The bootloader update beep is
different from the mode programming beep,
so it is clearly visible.
▪
Unplug the drive battery and plug it in again,
the controller initializes and is now ready for
user-defined settings.
11.
After a successfully completed update
disconnect and reconnect the drive battery, the
controller initializes and is now ready for
custom settings, the KOLIBRI is ready for use.
9. Connecting the Bluetooth Module
To connect the Bluetooth Module follow this:
1. finish Mode programming
2. disconnect battery
3. Connect Bluetooth Module and conduct
pairing (see manual of the Bluetooth
Module).
4. After the configuration of the module you
can use K-Prog and K-View
10. Troubleshooting
There are three different options for errors:
•
error after connecting the battery (selftest)
•
error during the operation
•
warnings
