A.6.8

PLCC Socket

A 32-pin PLCC socket, J14, is available for installing a FWH flash on the CP307-HDD module.
This flash can be used for booting the CP307 in case of a crash of the onboard firmware hub
flash. The jumper J1 must be set prior to applying power to the system in order to boot the
CP307 from the FWH flash on the CP307-HDD module.

A.6.9

Battery

The CP307-HDD may be equipped with a 3.0 V “coin cell” lithium battery for the RTC on the
CP307.

To replace the battery, proceed as follows:

• Turn off power
• Remove the battery
• Place the new battery in the socket.
• Make sure that you insert the battery the right way round. The plus pole must be on the top!

The lithium battery must be replaced with an identical battery or a battery type recommended
by the manufacturer. A suitable battery type CR2025.

If a CP307-HDD module is used on the CP307, either the CP307 or the
CP307-HDD module may be equipped with a battery.
Using one battery on the CP307 and one on the CP307-HDD module simulta-
neously may result in premature discharge of the batteries. 

Note ...

The user must be aware that the battery’s operational temperature range is
less than the CP307-HDD’s storage temperature range. 
For exact range information, refer to the battery manufacturer’s specifications.

Note ...

Care must be taken to ensure that the battery is correctly replaced.
The battery should be replaced only with an identical or equivalent type
recommended by the manufacturer.
Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
The typical life expectancy of a 170 mAh battery (CR2025) is 5 - 6 years with
an average on-time of 8 hours per working day at an operating temperature of
30°C. However, this typical value varies considerably because the life
expectancy is dependent on the operating temperature and the standby time
(shutdown time) of the system in which it operates.
To ensure that the lifetime of the battery has not been exceeded, it is recom-
mended to exchange the battery after 4 - 5 years.
