Adding a Second Power Supply Module
Depending on which model you order, your server has one AC or one DC power supply
module. A second power supply provides redundancy. The power supply modules are hot-
swappable, so no chassis components have to be removed to add or replace a module. To
add a second power supply module:
1.
Remove the filler panel. (Figure 40, “A”)
2.
Press and hold the green safety lock downward and using the handle, slide the power
supply into the slot until it latches into place. (“B” and “C”)
3.
If you are installing a DC power supply, there are two threaded studs for chassis
enclosure grounding.
(“D”)
A 90°standard barrel, two-hole, compression terminal lug with 5/8-inch pitch
suitable for a #14-10 AWG conductor must be used for proper safety grounding. A
crimping tool may be needed to secure the terminal lug to the grounding cable.
4.
If this is the last task you are performing, replace the processor air duct, the
riser card assembly, and the back chassis cover.
Reconnect all the external devices and plug in the power cord(s).
