From the CD-ROM, open the the Resources and then the System_Code
folders, or locate the update file you downloaded. The update file is
named
sys_z.ps
where the first part of the file name (
sys_z
) will vary to identify the ver-
sion of firmware the file contains (.ps is always the file name extension).

Drag the update file from the folder and drop it on the desktop printer.
After dropping the file on the printer, the download of the update file starts.
One of the following occurs:
– The printer reboots and a Startup Page is printed. Continue with
step 6.
– An error page is printed. This occurs if your printer’s firmware version
is later than the version that you attempted to download. You do not
need to upgrade the printer’s firmware. Skip step 6.

Inspect the Startup Page to ensure the firmware has been upgraded.

If you were using the Software Utilities CD-ROM, remove the CD-ROM
and store it in a safe place.
Updating the Printer via TCP/IP on a Macintosh using
OS X
The following steps describe how to update the firmware on your KONICA
MINOLTA printer connected via TCP/IP.
See “Checking TCP/IP Connections” on page 2-28. if you experience
problems when attempting to perform this procedure.

Make sure your printer is on and connected to your network.

Double-click on the printer to open the print queue window.
If you haven’t already created a Printer Queue, see “OS X Step 2. Creat-
ing a Printer Queue” on page 15 for instructions.

If the firmware file that you are downloading is on the Software Utilities
CD-ROM, insert the CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of your PC.
