Positioning the Rogowski Coil Accurately
You can achieve the maximum accuracy in your measurement results by ensuring that the Rogowski
coil is positioned properly around the conductor under test.
• Position the Rogowski coil in such a manner that the conductor under test is encircled by the coil
but is not adjacent to the ferrule or the probe cable attachment as illustrated by the shaded area
in the picture below.
• The N7040A/41A/42A probes have been calibrated with the conductor near the center (indicated
by
position A
in the picture below).
• The picture also shows the direction a positive current should pass through the coil loop to obtain
a positive output voltage. For the best high frequency performance, the center of the current
should lie on the dotted line shown from A to B, where A represents the center of the coil and B
represents half way around the circumference of the coil.
