w i l l be short if a low resolution value is
selected. T h i s w i l l be helpful in fine-
adjusting an o s c i l l a t o r , which requires quick
update. The measurement interval w i l l be
longer if a highed resolution value is
selected.
(2) Period measurement mode and time interval
mode
The period measurement mode processes the
specified number of cycles and then outputs
the average cycle t i m e . The desired number
of cycles can be specified by using the
G A T E s w i t c h . The relationship between the
number of cycles and the G A T E s w i t c h i s
shown in the table below.

(3) Frequency r a t i o mode
The frequency r a t i o mode requires t w o
signals to be input to the counter input
j u c k s . C H A N N E L A and C H A N N E L B input
j u c k s . The counter s t a r t s measuring each of
the input s i g n a l s and stops it when the
number of counts on the C H A N N E L B
reaches a specified value. In t h i s case, the
counter outputs the counter value on the
C H A N N E L A to the D i s p l a y . T h i s output
counter value is modified w i t h a given
decimal point and then displayed a s the
output frequency r a t i o .
In t h i s measurement mode, the G A T E s w i t c h
is used to specify a specific s t a n d a r d value
(No. of signal a r r i v a l s ) f o r the C H A N N E L
