Troubleshooting – BR/BD 550 (battery-powered unit)
Problem
Cause
Remedy
1. Red indicator light
for battery charge
status illuminates
Battery voltage has dropped to
its lowest level.
Charge the batteries.
Brush motors and
suction turbine are
switched off.
Note: With standard production units, the
control electronics are factory-calibrated
for the use of low-maintenance lead-acid
storage batteries. If batteries of this type
are replaced by maintenance-free gel-
type batteries, the setting of the
microswitch on the A2 control module
must be changed to the position.
2. Unit does not
move.
Emergency-stop pushbutton
was pressed.
Release emergency-stop pushbutton.
Parking brake has been set
(indicator light flashes).
Release parking brake.
Batteries are discharged (red
LED illuminates).
Charge or replace the batteries.
Poor contact of battery
connecting cable, or battery
connectors not plugged in.
Check cable, connector and contacts.
Replace if required, and/or plug in
connector.
Blown drive motor fuse (F2).
Check and/or replace fuse. Investigate
cause of fuse failure (refer to item 16,
below).
Blown control module fuse (F1). Check and/or replace fuse. Investigate
cause of fuse failure (refer to item 16,
below).
Defective key switch (S3).
Check key switch. Replace if required.
Defective safety switch (S1).
Check safety switch. Replace if required.
Defective or wrongly positioned
drive control microswitches
(S4/S5).
Check microswitch and/or adjust setting.
Replace if required.
Misadjusted switching cam for
drive control microswitches
(S4/S5).
Adjust switching cam position.
