availability
The
serial
number
consists
of
8
digits
(xxxxxxxx/WW/yy),
a
two
‐
digit
device
code
for
extended
availability
(xxxxxxxx/WW/yy)
as
well
as
the
production
year
(xxxxxxxx/WW/yy).
Serial
no.
(factory
set

serial
number)

the
meter,
and
cannot
be
changed
after
factory
programming.
Extended
Availability
You
need
the
encryption
key
of
a
specific
meter
to
be
able
to
read
the
meter
via
wireless
M
‐
Bus.
The
encryption
key
is
sent
to
the
customer
if
the
meter
is
purchased
directly
from
Kamstrup
A/S.
Customers
who
buy
their
meters
from
wholesalers
can
download
their
encryption
key
from
Kamstrup’s
”Encryption
Key
Service”,
where
the
customer
can
create
a
user
profile
without
contacting
Kamstrup
A/S.
Next
the
customer
keys
in
the
meter’s
serial
number
as
well
as
the
two
digits
(device
code)
for
extended
availability
and
downloads
the
encryption
key.
The
two
digits
have
been
introduced
in
order
to
provide
a
secure
method
for
customers
who
buy
Kamstrup
meters
from
a
wholesaler
to
obtain
the
necessary
encryption
keys.
