Onboard Serial Port 1 and Onboard Serial Por t 2

The system will automatically select an I/O address
for the onboard serial por t 1 and serial por t 2.

Allows you to
manually select an I/O address for the onboard
serial por t 1 and serial por t 2.
Disabled
Disables the onboard serial port 1 and/or serial
port 2.
UART2 Mode Select
The system board suppor ts IrDA function for wireless connectivity
between your computer and peripheral devices. You may not use
IrDA (J16) and the COM 2 serial por t (CN3) at the same time.
If you are using the COM 2 serial port, make sure this field is set
to Normal.
To use the IrDA function, follow the steps below.
1.Connect your IrDA cable to connector J16 on the system
board.
2.Set the “UART2 Mode Select” field to the type of IrDA
standard supported by your IrDA peripheral/device (IrDA or
ASKIR). For better transmission of data, your IrDA peripheral
device must be within a 30
o
angle and within a distance of 1
meter.
3.Set the “RxD, TxD Active”, “IR Transmission Delay”, “UR2
Duplex Mode” and “Use IR Pins” fields appropriately.
RxD, TxD Active
The options are Hi, Lo; Lo, Hi; Lo, Lo; and Hi, Hi.
IR Transmission Delay
If this field is Enabled, transmission of data will be slower. This is
recommended when you encounter transmission problem with
your device.
UR2 Duplex Mode
Half
Data is completely transmitted before receiving data.
Full
Transmits and receives data simultaneously.
