5050 & 5100 OWNER MANUAL
28.3 Replacing Hydraulic Oil and Hydraulic Oil Filter(s) (All Models except Skid Steer)
The hydraulic oil must be replaced
YEARLY
(or sooner if the oil quality has degraded). The hydraulic
oil filter(s) should also be changed yearly. To complete this procedure, follow these steps:
a. Locate the drain plug as shown in
for 5100 models. Place
a large oil pan or pail beneath the drain plug. Remember, the reservoir holds approximately
8.5 US
gallons (32 liters)
for 5050 models and
14 US gallons (53 liters)
for 5100 models; use a container
of sufficient size. Remove the drain plug and begin draining the reservoir oil.
b. Once the oil stops draining from the port, reinstall the drain plug.
c. Dispose of the used oil in an environmentally safe manner.
d. Remove the spin-on oil filter(s) and dispose of the filter(s) in an environmentally safe manner.
. Remember, all 5050
models come equipped with one (1) spin-on filter while all 5100 models come equipped with two (2)
spin-on filters.
e. Install new spin-on filter(s) (contact Dealer/Distributor for filter specifications).
f.
Remove the breather cap (5050 models) or oil fill cap (5100 models).
g. Fill the reservoir with recommended oil. Be sure to fill to the height specified in

h. After running the system for a few minutes at low idle, check the oil level in the reservoir again and
top up if necessary.

1. Spin-on Filter Element
- Rotating the element counterclockwise by hand will release the element
from the filter head. Likewise, rotating the element clockwise will tighten it.
