Bendix/King KCS 55A Horizontal Situation Indicator 

 

The KCS 55A HSI is a combined slaved compass system and VOR/ILS/Glide 
path display. The complete unit consists of a magnetic slaving transmitter 
mounted mid-wing on the starboard side, a slaving control and compensator 
unit, a directional gyroscope for stabilization of the system and the HSI display 
itself.  

Track information from the DGPS may also be displayed when selected using 
the NAV1/GPS button to the right of the DME unit, however the button will 
always default to NAV1 if an ILS frequency is selected on the NAV1 receiver. 

The display unit for the HSI contains flags and indicators to present a wide 
variety of information.
