Belt Splicing System v.2.0
Preparing Belt Ends
Shim the Smooth Edges to
Secure Belt Ends
FABRICATION TIP
Tape shims must raise the smooth belt edges so
they can be secured by the Cut Guide, but not
so much that the belt drive bars can not engage
the Grooved Decks.
With the belt drive bars face up, use these
guidelines to layer Painters’ tape on the smooth
edges before cutting or aligning.
• Adhere tape from the drive bar ends to the
belt edges. Keep the tape edge at least 0.25"
(6-7 mm) from where the prepared end will
be cut. This allows you to leave tape in place
for splicing.
• Trim the tape at the belt edges.
Do not
score the belt.

• Stop layering tape as soon as the tape top
surface is even with the belt surface between
drive bars.
Use Thin Belt Tabs to
Secure Belt Ends
Use these guidelines to correctly place one (1)
Belt Tab between each Pivoting Stud and
Locating Pin before lightly securing belt ends.
• Use Flat Top Belt Tabs slightly thinner
than the belt, e.g., use 5.3 mm Flat Top tabs
for 6 mm S8126 Flat Top belt.
Figure 14C: Choose Belt Tabs thinner than belt
• Ensure the Belt Tab drive bars engage the
grooves.
