Installing the SCSI Backplane Board
1. Observe the safety precautions, warnings, and cautions described in “ Safety Information ”, page
5.
2. Remove the SCSI backplane board. For instructions, see “ Removing the SCSI Backplane
Board ”, page 214.
3. Lower the SCSI backplane board over the three tabs at the lower edge of the board.
4. Move the board until it is vertical, ensuring all ten tabs are through the slots in the SCSI board.
5. Slide the board downward, engaging all hooks.
6. Ensure the plunger is fully seated.

7. Install the main board. For instructions, see “ Installing the Main Board ”, page 213.
8. Install the center brace. For instructions, see “ Installing the Center Brace ”, page 177.
9. Install all add-in cards. For instructions, see “ Installing a Non-Hot-Plug PCI Card ”, page 155.
You may use these instructions for hot-swap cards as well as non-hot-swap cards.
10. Install all memory boards and memory board air baffles. For instructions, see “ Cold Insertion
of a Memory Board ”, page 165.
11. Connect the cables you disconnected during the removal process from the SCSI backplane
board. For connection locations, see Figure 86.
12. Install the top cover. For instructions, see “ Installing the Top Cover ”, page 140.
13. Install the hot-swap hard drives and hard drive carriers. For instructions, see “Installing a Hard
Disk Drive Assembly”, page 146.
