3.5 Hardware Management Subsystem

The hardware management features enable the Intel Server Board S875WP1-E to be
compatible with the Wired for Management (WfM) specification 2.0. The server board complies
with DMI specification 2.0 and has several hardware management features, including the
following:

Hardware Monitoring and Fan Control ASIC

The features of the hardware monitoring and fan control ASIC (Standard Microsystems
SMSC EMC6D101 or equivalent) include:

Internal ambient temperature sensor

Two remote thermal diode sensors for direct monitoring of processor temperature and
ambient temperature sensing

Power supply monitoring of five voltages (+5 V, +12 V, +3.3 V Standby, +1.5 V, and
+VCCP) to detect levels above or below acceptable values

Thermally monitored closed-loop fan control, for four fans, that can adjust the fan speed
or switch the fans on or off as needed
