NORMAL OPERATION
Before operating or maintaining the engine, review “Safety” on
page 1-1.
SENSIBLE OPERATION
The engine in your boat is built to exacting specifications and is
designed to deliver unparalleled performance from idle speed to
wide open throttle. Most skiing, wakeboarding and surfing is done
at low to moderate RPM, and that is where we have calibrated the
engines to provide the highest torque and pulling power. Although
occasional operation higher RPM is acceptable, we recommend
for extended cruising, that the throttle be kept at a maximum of
80%. It is also important not to overload your boat by adding more
weight and ballast than the boat was designed to handle. Damage
to the engine that can be attributed to excessive RPM and/or
loading may not be covered by the engine’s limited warranty.
DAILY ROUTINE
1. Open the engine cover and check the bilge for water; pump
bilge dry. Excessive amounts of water can indicate leakage
problems from thru-hull fittings, loose or damaged hoses or
hull damage. Excess water in the bilge will damage engine
components (starters, alternators, etc.). Besides the obvious
issues, if the crankshaft pulley is even partially submerged the
serpentine belt will pick up water. The water picked up by the
belt may pull water to the upper portion of the engine where it
can be drawn into the engine through the flame arrestor. Make
sure the engine’s beauty cover is in place to protect the top of
the engine. Water intrusion from high water in the bilge is not
covered by the Indmar Limited Warranty.
