2 Solder wire 1 to pin 1 on the connector. To locate pin 1, see Figure 5-4 .

Tip For optimal results, use a soldering iron with a fine tip. To make a solder connection from the wire to
the solder cup, first flow solder on both the cable and the cup. Next, use tweezers to locate the wire
through the hole of the solder cup. Then, use the solder iron to flow the solder and make the
connection.
Do not push the wire down too far when installing the wire through the hole in
the solder cup or you may cause a short to the cup.
3 Repeat Step 2 for each connector position.
4 Install the grounding strap to the connector so that the long tab is placed underneath the connector
(see
Figure 5-5 ).
