Estimating Ink Consumption

A utility available on the Edit Screen
estimates a print message’s ink con-
sumption. To display the estimated
ink consumption for the message
being created or edited, select

Ink

Usage

from the Messages Menu.

Ink consumption is reported as the
estimated number of times the

entire

message will print per five gallons of
ink for an Integrated Valve task, 500
ml of ink for an Impulse Jet task, or
20ml of ink for a WaxJet task. All
fields on all sides of a print message
are included in the calculation. Ink
consumption is calculated by multi-
plying the average drop volume by
the total number of dots in the printed
message.

Side 2 = Side 1:

When the

Side 2 = Side 1

option is selected, the total number of dots is

determined by counting the number of dots on Side 1 of the message, then doubling it.

Groups:

When the

Group task 2 with task 1

option on a dual task system is selected, and

both tasks are of the same print technology (both Integrated Valve or both Impulse Jet), the
dots in both tasks are counted and used in the ink consumption calculation. For groups
where one task is Integrated Valve and the other is Impulse Jet, ink consumption is calcu-
lated for the currently displayed task only.
