connector
Connect
the
ASM
breakout
cable
to
this
connector
to
enable
system
management
through
the
serial
connectors
and
through
the
ASM
RS-485
connectors.

USB
This
connector
is
not
available
for
use.
External
power-supply
connector
Connect
the
optional
power-supply
adapter
to
this
connector.
This
connection
provides
power
to
the
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
II,
independent
of
the
server
power
supply.
Ethernet
(RJ-45)
connector
Connect
a
Category
3,
4,
or
5
unshielded
twisted-pair
cable
to
this
connector
to
enable
a
LAN
connection
or
Telnet
session.
The
Ethernet
connector
LEDs
on
the
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
II
indicate
whether
the
link
is
good
and
whether
activity
is
taking
place
on
the
network.
Video
connector
Connect
the
cable
from
the
server
monitor
to
this
connector.
Attention:
Do
not
connect
the
ASM
connector
to
the
RXE
Management
Port
on
the
server.
If
you
want
to
use
the
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
II
to
manage
the
server
remotely
or
to
connect
the
server
to
another
server,
connect
the
applicable
cables
to
the
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
II
connectors.

a
network,
use
the
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
II
Ethernet
connector.

To
enable
remote
server
management
using
a
modem,
use
a
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
II
serial
connector
on
the
breakout
cable
that
you
connect
to
the
ASM
connector.

To
enable
remote
server
management
through
a
serial
interface
from
a
client
workstation
using
a
terminal-emulation
program
or
from
a
hardware
terminal
server,
connect
the
breakout
cable
to
the
ASM
connector
and
make
the
following
connections:
–
Use
a
null
modem
cable
to
connect
your
server
serial
connector
to
the
serial
connector
labeled
COM1
on
the
breakout
cable.
–
Use
a
null
modem
cable
to
connect
the
serial
connector
labeled
COM2
on
the
breakout
cable
to
a
terminal
server
or
client
serial
connector.
