Verifying the Installation
Initial installation is verified using the following procedures:

Verify AIX Hardware Installation (lsdev)
Ÿ
Verify AIX Software Installation (lslpp)
Verify AIX Hardware Installation
1. To verify that your system unit recognizes the PCI Dual Channel Ultra2 SCSI
Adapter:
Ÿ
If necessary, login as root.
Ÿ
Type:
lsdev -Cs pci | grep scsi
and press Enter.
2. Possible Results:
Ÿ
If the PCI Dual Channel Ultra2 SCSI Adapter did install correctly, the
following is an example of the data that appears on your screen:
scsi1 Available ð4-ð3 Wide/Ultra-2 SCSI I/O Controller
scsi2 Available ð4-ð3 Wide/Ultra-2 SCSI I/O Controller
If this message displays, you have finished installing the adapter.
Ÿ
If the message on your screen indicates your adapter is
DEFINED
instead of
AVAILABLE
, shut down your machine. Check the PCI Dual Channel Ultra2
SCSI Adapter to ensure it is installed correctly. Go to “Installing the Adapter”
on page 5-1, and return to this section and repeat step 1.
Note: If the message on your screen indicates your adapter is
DEFINED
a
second time, it may be necessary to contact your service representative.

If no data appears, continue with “Verify AIX Software Installation” on
page 5-4.
